On steam's forums the devs explained that linux and mac versions will be available after EA.

Wine might be a temp solution...

Hey thanks for the info. Too bad, would have liked to take a shot at it during EA. Wine is always a bit of a hit and miss and if it does not work then it is your problem and the developers usually see it the same way as they do not officially support it. Hence I am reluctant to take that gamble. :)
