So since LAN works... is it possible for Steam and GOG versions to play together? The question was asked in the original post but not yet answered.

8BitChris: [EDIT] Tested LAN play with PC and Laptop. Works fine without Galaxy! [/EDIT]

So yes, I'd say this is very much DRM-free. Game works flawlessly without Galaxy and without it you could still play it via LAN or even online IF you and your friends would use a VPN tunneling tool.
Thanks.

As-GOG: So, online mulliplayer is only available to GOG-Galaxy users?
It doesn't seem like it is. Galaxy seems to be required for online multi-player matchmaking but you can set up multi-player sessions yourself, online or not.

8BitChris: Yes, I can confirm there is LAN mode as well as public online play via GOG Galaxy.
I am not sure if you are intentionally trying to mislead people but GOG support emailed me directly in response to a support ticket. They said

"Hello

Unfortunately no, multiplayer is available only between GOG Galaxy users. There is also no LAN multiplayer.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Oh well, I own the game, I played it, I streamed it. I know what options it has. But you do not need to believe me. For your convenience I uploaded a screenshot. But I'm sure you understand I'll not go the lengths to make a video to show it in detail. I'm not going to argue here. But immediately assuming bad intentions towards another person isn't very nice. I just want to help. Believe whatever you wish to believe.

leon23: So technically me and my brother could play this game over lan with just one bought version?
Could anyone verify this?
Yes you can do that with the LAN option. I took one for the team and bought it again on GOG (have it on steam already). I just did some testing between steam and gog versions and I could not get them to stay connected, every time I could find and connect to the other PC from either one, but it would disconnect immediately. There may be a way of making it work but I could not figure it out.

When I put the GoG version on both PCs it connected right away first try, nothing special. This is awesome!

I apologize but I often see people spreading misinformation on the internet and i thought that this was the case here since i heard the exact opposite from support. I too wanted to help people not make a purchasing decision based on what I thought was not the truth.

The support person who told me LAN was not supported jumped into another thread I posted in and confirmed he was wrong and LAN is supported. I would post the link to that thread but GOG wont allow me for some reason. Its the "Multiplayer only available for GOG Galaxy users" thread

Thanks,
Stinky
