I've been trying to mod this game lately with things from Nexus, but it either doesn't work or it has wacky effects (for example, Fun Mod 4.0 made me slippery and not be able to damage to enemies).

Is it not possible to properly mod the GOG version of this game?

It may depend on the mod I've only tried adding one mod, "All Climates", which I downloaded from Nexus. That one works properly.

I was also having problems with some mods. It is the Enahnced Edition which has done it, apparently there were significant updates to the engine which broke a fair few things. I would point out that I Am Legion is now updated to work with the Enhanced Edition.
