It's great to have these games on GOG, but why haven't the DLC's for the first two games of the series been included?

Most likely a copy of the Steam listing, which doesn't have the DS1/2 expansions either.

I think basically the problem is one of rights. When the games were produced they were under different publishers. DS1 was published by Microsoft as was DS2. Legends of Aranna WAS published by Microsoft but my guess is it wasn't part of the acquisition when Square Enix bought the rights to the franchise. And DS2 Broken World was published by 2K. So they probably still have those rights too.
Here we go again

This is always been such a issue with the DS series and missing content.

If this is the case, the only reason DS1 Legends of Aranna wouldn't be bought is that it was made by Mad Doc Software (today Rockstar New England), not Gas Powered Games.
Too bad...
I miss Dungeon Siege Legends of Arana :'(

You can play it on GOG version:

Thanks a lot.
Wishlist entries for the still missing Dungeon Siege expansions:
Dungeon Siege: Legends of Aranna
Dungeon Siege II: Broken World
I have the original discs. Will installing Legends of Aranna for DS 1 work? Anyone try it yet?

No, that won't work.
LoA isn't an add-on or expansion in the usual sense, as it comes with its own version of the complete base game, so you cannot use the LoA content in combination with the GOG base game.

However, if you already own the discs, you don't need the GOG version. Just install and play the game, using your discs (or images of them).

Right. I was looking to NOT have to use the discs to play, thus my re-buy on GoG.

I did try to install LoA and it installed fine, but when I went to play, it did ask for the discs.

Thanks for your reply :)
So in the end, this package is more or less worthless for me ...

If you're using the discs, you may want to consider ripping them to an ISO and using a disc emulator like MagicDisc or Daemon Tools. That's what I do in those cases.

I did pick up this package, since there's a workaround to get the DLC installed. And I'm pretty sure I don't actually own Dungeon Siege II in the first place.

As you already own the DLC on disc you could follow the instructions found in an earlier thread about how to access the DLC in the GOG version. I also own the retail discs so felt this was a fair thing to do.
