I'm looking for a mod to make monsters respawn. Fortunately there are summoners that will summon infinite monsters to gain XP, but you need to stuck with them.

After some search, I've found an old mod here:

https://www.siegetheday.org/?q=node/20

But it is old and the link is not working anymore. Any suggestions?

You could use the XP ring mod. It comes in x10, x100, x1000, etc multipliers. It's from the same site you listed.

Once copied to the mod folder, they drop by using the console command that gives you starter equipment. To avoid ruining the game for you, the x10 is probably the best choice.

Also, I don't recall if it requires a new game to take effect.

I know the monster respawn one for DS2 still works as I have it installed, but I don't recall if I installed one for DS1.

I'll have to check the game folder. If I do have it, not sure what site is considered 100% safe for me to upload it since I've never done that before.

Yes, XP multiplier could be a solution, also faster, the thing is that I love respawn in games, especially RPGs, it makes them a bit more alive.

If you have a respawn mod for DS1 you can upload it to Nexusmods for everyone :D! Or to Google drive, don't forget to share that folder. I would appreciate a lot such mod.

Sorry it took so long, didn't get to touch my game drive for a couple nights.

It doesn't look like I have any respawn mods active. Likely I was relying on the XP rings only.

No problem, I've searched a lot and apparently there aren't any. I will stay with summoners to make new members catch the veterans.

If the summoning gets tedious, you could always equip a 2nd x10 ring (or whatever x multiplier) on those that fall behind.

As another poster mentioned, the XP in DS1 is granted as you do damage and the main stat(s) (Str, Dex, Int) that goes up is based on the weapon or magic type used. Though I don't recall if the other stats get small gains or not.

Some times I'd just take control of the other char until they caught up, with a slightly extra boost to XP. Never took long.

How experience works in DS1 is interesting.

Experience gained is applied twice: once to skill, and once to main stats (Str, Dex, Int).

On the skills side, ALL experience goes to the skill being used. (So hitting a monster with a shot from a bow increases Ranged skill.) The higher the skill - that particular skill - already is, the less the experience is worth towards increasing it further.

On the stats side, the experience is divided between all three, with the one most relevant to the skill being used getting much the biggest share. (So hitting a monster with a shot from a bow increases Dex the most, Str somewhat, and Int a bit.) The higher the COMBINED TOTAL of Str, Dex and Int - that is the higher the total experience the character already has - the less the new experience is worth towards increasing it further. Experience is converted into %-towards-next-level BEFORE being divvied up between the three stats.

Example: Lord Bolingar is the last potential recruit we meet in the Kingdom of Ehb. He comes as purely a melee fighter, skill 43. That amount of melee experience works out as Str 37, Dex 21 and Int 13 (remember these all start from 10 whereas skills start from 0). Having him do some nature magic for example - perhaps so he can start buffing himself with Charged Fist - will increase his nature magic skill quite fast through the first few levels, where little experience is needed, but make no noticeable difference to his Int, where he is counted as already having 43 levels-worth.
You can play with respawning mobs in multiplayer mode. You can play it as single player without other players (you just need to adjust some settings for monsters' strength and XP rewards, because they have different multipliers in multiplayer).

As an additional bonus for playing it in multiplayer mode you get access to two additional difficulty modes, which allow you to raise your character level much-much higher and see loot, which isn't available in single player.

I recall a while back doing a lot of research on this when searching for mods and I believe someone put out a post with formulas on how level up works. I just can't recall right now where I found that info.

The formula is also in the one of the .dsres mod files that I used, if I'm remembering it right.. It was a mod to make the monsters harder by increasing their health and damage, at least I think that was the mod lol.

Thanks for the info, I didn't see any of this during my search for mods for the game. Another option is always good.
