I have owned this since it came out back in 99 or so....and fooled around with it a bit but really just scratched the surface....I decided to buy the game from GoG a couple years or so ago because my hard copy was much too unstable.
I have finally decided I want to give this sucker a run for it's money and perhaps actualy finish the sucker...I am currently on the 7th mission ( farther than I have ever been)...it's a great game! Loads of fun!!
I have a bad habit of not finishing games so I want to give this one a try....How many of you finished it?

I finished the game a few times, when i found out some secrets, searched on the internet, after 1 of the mission became so hard to do and it seems no other way to do other then use the strongest unit and take control of it.

Very cool!! I am currently on the tenth mission. It is the first mission I need to attempt more than once. I did't understand how to go about the objectives the first time through but I think I have it figured out now...will be attemting it again soon! It is such a fun and addictive game.

I guess we're talking about dk1 since dk2s difficulty level is pretty relaxed.

Sometimes, literally the only way to win is to take a level 10 unit from the previous map with you, take control of it, waltz right to the enemy dungeon heart and clickspam until you win.
The game flat out expects you to bring your strongest unit with you later on so if you have not found that mandatory "secret", you're in a no-win state!
So keep that in mind.

if you know what you're doing, you can beat everything without transferring creatures, but if you haven't played before, it's well worth transferring.

I recall the original DK levels being more frustrating than Deeper Dungeons levels, but that may well be mainly because back in DK levels I didn't yet necessarily fully know what I was doing. The last 6 or so Deeper Dungeons levels were even much easier than what I had feared. Well ok, the last two DD levels were quite tricky at first, until you came up with some way to proceed. The last DD level (Belial) was even quite easy after I was able to fool the enemy tunneler parties not to attack my home base near the beginning, by leading them to a broken bridge over a small lava pit. They'd just watch me helplessly across the lava, with no idea how to get to me. Don't worry, we'll see again after I've leveled up my dragons and mistresses, and set up a few boulder traps for you. :)

Now playing DK2, a few levels now. DK2 mainly feels like DK in slow motion. And apparently you can't train creatures to full level 10 anymore just in training room, but only up to level 4 or so, and past that they level up only in real combat? Interesting change, not sure yet if I like it or not, but in a way it makes sense.
