Hallo everyone.

When starting Dungeon Keeper Gold my screen flashes a couple times between black and dark gray, then the intro video loads but with a black screen, no graphics. Audio is fine though. If you click forward to the main menu, screen is still black.

If I alt+tab, the game window minimizes and when selected again the game keeps running in a smaller window with normal graphics this time. If I maximize the window again, I get either a black screen or a frozen graphic but the game is still running otherwise, audio and all.

I've tried running the game in different resolutions and compatibility mode, but no dice.

So, any help on what else I could try it to get it running normally?

I'm guessing you're playing it without KeeperFX?

Try different Graphics modes using the DOSBox Configurator. You can load this from the shortcut "Launch Graphic Mode Setup".

Compatibility mode is NOT needed because the game uses DOSBox.

Wonderful, I switched to Overlay and it worked. Thank you.

From reading around, I really don't get the advantages of installing KeeperFX. Why would you think it be a good idea?

- It has support for multiple campaigns (Ancient Keeper, Burdened Imps' Level Pack etc.)
- It has high resolution and widescreen support
- It contains a rewritten game engine with improved AI and bug fixes
- It has TCP/IP multiplayer support but it is currently in its infancy and may be 'slightly' buggy

Follow this install guide if you'd like to give it a go.
