Whenever I use a resolution above 1024x768 - the game runs - but the UI becomes useless - text such as the level objective becomes invisible - buttons associated with message or menu viewing are visible, but with no text. Is there a fix for this?

I assume you are talking about Dungeon Keeper 2. If that is the case, then yes, this is a known problem. If there is a fix for this issue, I'd be happy to know it too.

Yes - I was referring to DK2 - stupid of me to not say so. Gone back to 1024 to get round the issue - but I'd love to be able to play widescreen. I know it doesn't actually give more detail - but is is much more comfortable playing that way
Can you please check if this hack works, or if the display error still persists: http://www.wsgf.org/dr/dungeon-keeper-2
Yes - I am using that hack - it works, but does NOT resolve the display issue - I still have the reg edits in place, but have to revert to 1024 in the graphics set up screen to be able to see the text. Sorry to be slow coming back on thsi - I don't appear to get notifications from this forum
I was afraid so. DK2 was not made with such high resolutions in mind, and I guess we have to wait unti a) someone discovers the source code or b) someone finds a way to scale the resolution up.

If you like experimenting, you can try forcing DK2 to use the Glide API and use the nGlide emulator with the option "Screen resolution - by desktop". In this case, if you start the game in 800x600, it should scale up to 1600x1200.

I know that this works perfectly well in "Independence War", but I have no idea if that applies to DK2 as well.
Thanks - I'll give it a try :)
