nightfrost: I agree this game gets to a point of damn near impossible. I am on a level (dont know the name) where you are given a premade dungeon and heros come at you from 4 directions at a constant rate. If anyone knows the level im talking about and has some good advice then let me know please .. or some cheats (that work) that would help too ;)
OK, I just finished this one yesterday. Not too ahrd when you know how.
First attack will come from the left. Hopefully you have been combing the dungeons for the xfer creature special, as my Mistress held 2-3 legs of all attacks solo until late in second phase. If not, you are in for a harder fight.
Get imps claiming territory, and get some Trolls/BDs manufacturing. Also get your spell research up ASAP, as the chicken spell is a HUGE help late in phase 2.
As soon as an enemy shows up, zerg them. Once they are down. start with traps in the hallway in, and always keep the door going to your dungeons locked. Unlock them ONLY for mining and claiming, until you have yourself established.
Once you take the circular area on the side, I start with left, i put some traps right where they spawn at. Later on it wont stop them, but when you get the 2 level 6 Faries popping there about 30ish minutes in, they are both at half HP and alot easier to take out.
Watch the order and where they are coming from. As soon as an attack there is done, get your imps mining there and prep for the next attack. 2 gas bombs and 2 lightenings at the spawn point does wonders for your survival. The lord of the land comes from the right iirc.
I have found that this mision, much like the Siege from Lord Asmodius in Dungeon Keeper 2 (7th mission iirc, maybe 9th... the one with the 45 minute countdown until you get charged) are best handled if you use traps at spawn/choke points, and get out there and be aggressive.
After about 4ish attacks from each side. You assistant tells you basically you get a break and harder guys are coming. Train up as fast as you can. Make sure you have the area thoroughly mined with traps AND your spells are done.
Late 2nd phase, you will start getting monsters level 6-9. When you have multiple mobs coming, chicken th highest one, unless ou are confident in taking them down with little to know damage taken.
--Always remember, use the armor spell when in tough fights, and the speed increase can be a definite help as well, and they are both CHEAP.
Just keep a cool head, get your monsters back healing, keep your strongest ready to be dropped at a moments notice, and if you are good on money, use the heal spell on them, keep them at 100% My choice was my lvl 10 Mistress, others have kept their Bile Demon, Dragon or Vampires. It all what you got, and what you like using. Dont pick a Mistress because I recommended it, pick her becuase you like her and do some damage with her. If your style is best with a Warlock, then grab a Warlock.
Basically this map is not very hard, as far as the battles themselves go. It is a endurance round, and one that forces you to keep calm and a clear head. You lose your cool, they will be all over your heart in no time.
99% of this game falls into the "Easy when you know how" catagory. The mission that was brutal was the last one, the fight with the avatar OMG..... he took down like 3 reapers, a wall of mistresses, Bile Demons and Dragons, all LVL10, and he did it by himself. Haven't gotten back there yet.... gettin there though, I just remember it vividly in the 90's.
