How can i get this copy of the game to run better in dosbox?

Browse to the game's installation folder and look for the file named "dosboxDK.conf". Open it with any test editor, search for the line "cycles=" and set it to "cycles=max". Save the file and try to run the game: it should run smoother now.

That said, I strongly suggest you to use KeeperFx.
