I have tried several options for fixing the crashes. Surprisingly when I turned off the sound effects the crashes became almost non-existent. I use GeForce NVIDIA with Windows XP. Give it a try. If it works please confirm. If it does not trim down the crashes please post as well.

EDIT: The music will still play, but the voices will not be there, which is disappointing, but still enjoyable for me.
