I've been attempting to get Dungeon Keeper Gold running smoothly via DOSBox for the past few hours now. The game itself works ok: the mouse and buttons respond flawlessly, and my creatures have no trouble at all responding to my commands. What I am worried about is its current display state.
For reasons unknown, the game is suffering from a severe case of display lag. On very frequent occasions, most notably the town selection screen, the game starts out smooth and then gets choppy. Framerates begin to drop, audio gets clipped and slowed down, etc. I've tried changing compatibility settings via Windows' Properties dialog, I've tried changing display settings in the GOG Graphic Settings launcher, etc. Nothing has given me results, whether negative or positive.
Has anyone else had this issue? If so, were you able to fix it? How did you go about fixing it?
My system specs, for anyone who is curious, are below. Yes, I am fully aware that this is a rather crappy setup, but this is a laptop I am using while on vacation. My gaming PC was left behind at home for the purposes of this trip.
Model: HP Notebook 2000
OS: Windows 8 (64bit)
APU: AMD E-300 with Radeon HD Graphics @ 1.30GHz
RAM: 4GB
Storage: 275GB (220GB available for use)
