lars123456789: DAMN IT PEOPLE! Stop being so RIDICULOUSLY ingrateful and selfentitled. To get a thing to work properly it sometimes requires a little community-effort too, meaning that YOU people who want things to work out ALSO need to start looking for solutions to the problems, instead of doing your snobby, whiny and selfentitled complaining on end!.

Be ****ing thankful that some people want to stretch their hours to make these old games playable for you, and when they stumble onto some HEAVY problems, like this game here, do whatever you can to help out instead of pressuring them for crying out loud, that won't leave ANYONE with ANYTHING!.

Maybe there IS only one solution, dig out your shitty old hardware from back then and get to enjoying your nostalgia properly!, and how much of a problem would that be anyway ?
Really? just ..really? If I PAY for something I expect it to work. If I got the game for free your point would be valid, sadly it isnt. And just how many people do you think have 10 year old hardware laying about?

Of course we could make it work properly, if we just get the source code. That can be a problem, what you think?

As I have wrote here before, there is no way to make the hardware acceleration work without modifying the engine. AMD is not going to add the support for old type z-buffer anymore, which causes the black screen.
As for general stability, improving it would probably need modifying the actual source code too.
For me, I can't complete the third my pet dungeon. It just crashes after 5 minutes, every time.

As has been stated a number of times, this isn't a community project. It's a PAID game that clearly lists Windows 7 compatibility on the title page.

Any issues need to be addressed in big red flashing letters on the title page, so impulse shoppers don't go away feeling cheated.

IMHO GoG have done them selves a great disservice with this very shoddy release, and so long without a fix!

Yeah, FU2 Lars... If I hadn't payed for this shit then your sorry excuse for gog would be fine and dandy but the fact is that I gave real money to get this gem and to be able to play it on a modern machine. And what do I get...

This is a paid for product which lists windows 7 as compatibility.
If it was free that would be acceptable.
If it was a paid for product that said "XP ONLY, no Win vista/7 support" then this would be acceptable.
But if you buy a product that says that it supports windows 7 then it should support windows 7.
To counter what Lars says, he says that people should be grateful that a business....and yes it is a business did not adequately test a product they are selling for profit, and the community should figure out why it's not working? That is completely pointless, that's kinda like saying someone bought a car from a dealership and it died before it got home, so they should spend their time trying to figure out why it doesn't work. In fact most of his post is deliberately inflammatory and shows that he is exactly what he blames others for being.
Folks, lets try to keep this thread on topic - which is reporting issues to GOG so they can work on fixing the problems with the release as is.

I appreciate people voicing their opinions, but lets keep this thread about the stability issues with the game so we can assist GOG in fixing DK2. You can always start another thread in the forum about your belief on what GOG's business practices should be.

I'm one of the many interested parties waiting for GOG to issue a fixed, updated version of this game before I purchase - so lets do everything in our power to help them achieve this goal.

Thanks
Ok, I followed all the troubleshooting steps i saw in the forums, yet i still get the same issue of once it gets to the bullfrog logo, dungeon keeper minimizes and nothing I tried has changed that. What else do I need to do to get this to work.

Did you follow the steps listed on the support site for DK2?

If none of those steps fix your issue, you can open a support ticket with GOG.

Yes, i followed the directions there, I changed the shortcut several times, i edited the registry several times, I wouldn't have said i tried all that i could find if I didn't start with the simple stuff. I am about to open a ticket, I just wanted to state that.
Any word on when DK2 will work with windows 7? I'd like to buy other GoG.com games, but I really am wary of getting the same issues. Despite saying windows 7, it doesn't work on windows 7 ...

And yes, I've jumped through all the hoops.
still waiting on a fix to purchase it and tell my friends to buy it on windows 7. and to previous 'hate' about us trying to fix it....thats not the point. the point is that this site is about releasing old games to play on new comps. if i didnt want that id just go on ebay and buy the cd and spend time to try to fix the kinks that have been around since xp was released
I'll just say that if I had it to do over again I would not have bought this title from GOG. Despite every fix suggested by the community it is simply unplayable on my Win 7 machine. The response from GOG is like the sound of crickets chirping.
I wouldn't put down the crickets, they can be really noisy. This is more the sound of a rock sitting still in the middle of nowhere.
So still no news on this? As others have mentioned, if the GOG version runs that unstable on my machine, i could've just used my old CD version which doesn't run any better, but would've cost me no additional money!

I really regret buying this game here so far...
