DKII-DX.exe - Application Error
---------------------------
The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000022). Click OK to close the application.

I am running Windows 8.1 Pro x64 and the game is a fresh install.

EDIT: Solved. I found a thread on the KeeperFX forums that had some dlls, grabbed them and put them in dk2's folder and presto!

Manually placing DLL files to the game's directory is a poor solution. A more effective one, that actually resolves the source of the problem, is this:

In the Control Panel (not Settings), go to Programs and Features -> Turn Windows features on and Off. Open the Legacy Components section and tick DirectPlay.
