Hey

It seems the graphical issues that plagued the CD release of the game are still present in the GoG version.

If you enable hardware acceleration for the graphics you will then get Black Graphic corruption all over the screen.

I don't mind playing without the hardware acceleration but just thought this might of been resolved for the GoG release.

Believe it or not the attached screenshot is the main menu screen with Hardware acceleration enabled.
Attachments:
Hardare acceleration not working would be OK, if the software mode didn't have 5-10 FPS on my machine. :-(

Windows 7 x64
Intel Core i5 2.67Ghz
4GB RAM
nVidia GeForce 310M

Any advice?

Try running it on a single core in compatibility mode?

Did you enter a game or did you just test the main menu? That one is laggy as hell on my machine too, but the game itself runs perfectly smooth...
Hi,

I appreciate GOG.com purchasing service. The download service is fast and easy to manage. I support GOG.com to offer games without DRM.

Recently I purchased DK2 base on my previous success of running Freespace 2 from GOG.com on my computer. But this time my computer is not compatible with DK2.

The menu is missing in the background when 3D acceleration is enable.
No image during gameplay with 3D acceleration enable.
The game crash randomly during gameplay when 3D acceleration is disable.

Same bugs with my original CD version of DK2 with version 1.7 patch install running with administrator account.

I have install Directx SDK 2010 on my system before trying this game.

My computer meet the system requirement, but I am unable to play this game. What is the best approach to fix this problem.

AMD Athlon 64 3700+
1GB RAM
ASUS HD4350 512MB (driver 11.6)
ASUS A8N-E motherboard with Nforce 4 Ultra Chipset (driver 15.23)
Windows XP SP3 32bit (August 17 2011 update)

Thank you
So basically they haven't even bothered to fix the game prior to release?, think i'll wait as this is just the CD version. Poor show gog/ea :(
I for one don't have any graphical issues except the sluggish "mission select" screen. To anyone else who has almost zero issues, id suggest to use the following commandlines on the game shortcut to activate bump mapping for added eye candy.
-enablebumpmapping
-enablebumpluminance
I like to make a correction in my previous post,

Instead of "The menu is missing in the background when 3D acceleration is enable."
It should be "The background image in the menu screen is missing when hardware acceleration is enable".

DK2 is a fun(ny) game that I like to replay again.
I like to had that with my previous Leadtek Quadro FX 540 video card. The CD version of DK2 version 1.7 run without problem.

like many others i own the original on cd and would have bought the gog version if the technical issues were fixed. is there no way you guys can add a direct 3d support ? glide is not that common anymore. the sad part is i can run dk1 gold with d3d without any problems, dk2 ? no way

*sigh*

I hope you do understand that GOG gets no sources from the publisher and can't fix deeply rooted problems.
Got a nice tip in another board:

add -32biteverything to the shortcut and allocate only one processor core.

Now I can at least review the mission goals.
Yeah, I just found out, after using compatibility and software mode, it still lags like hell in the title screen, but is perfectly playable in-game.

Thanks GOG, another classic game checked off my to-play list!
saw a picture and had another game that did this

I believe the fix was

Go to RUN box and type MSCONFIG
Click on BOOT
Click on Advanced Options
change to 1 processor
but here is the clincher - maximum memory drop to 2gig max

This corruption so looks like the max 2gig problem that happens for Railway Tycoon series and various others

I havent tested this but give it a go
This is very disappointing. GoG releases are supposed to work on windows 7.
I tried within the last two hours to fix my problems, inlcuding using the command line and adding parameters for 32bit everything, the same bugs appears. I give up. I am waiting for a official fix to these problems or at least an official acknowledge of my problems.
