I would love to see a screenshot. I remember the lava being absolutely beautiful.
Here for details and screenshots :

Supposedly it only works with some Matrox graphic cards...

You can enable it for DKII.EXE if you set -enablebumpmapping -enablebumpluminance in your shortcut.

Also Timeslip's updated patch using DKII-DX.EXE allows you to set bump mapping in the config

Here is my config file with antialiasing and anisotropy enabled http://www.mediafire.com/download/l2v9uehi9wi4jrr/GOG.7z

The config file is located in c:\Users\YourName\AppData\Roaming\GOG\DungeonKeeper2\

You can edit the line Bumpmap=1 to enable it there. It's disabled by default because it's a little too shiny for my tastes.

Hi,

Thank you for the detailed reply. You don't have a screenshot handy, do you? I'm skeptical that you are actually getting the bumpmaps working :) On my current laptop, adding those commandline options enabled the environment maps that were supposed to go on top of the bumpmaps, but didn't actually add the bumpmaps themselves, resulting in what I would similarly describe as a "too shiny" look.

I think you're right, I just zoomed right into the lava and it looks very different from this example

Never paid such close attention to it before, or zoomed in that far :-) DKII seems to be full of surprises.

Eh, maybe not! Your screenshot is actually how I remember it looking years ago. On my current laptop, trying to enable bumpmaps makes it look much worse, just a shiny mess with no detail :) I will have to try timeslip's patch. Thanks again dude

Oh? Well, that's intriguing. It does appear to look slightly messier than the screenshot on that web-site though.

I have an Nvidia graphics card in my system, and was able to achieve this without the use of Timeslip's patch.
