Because of those dang slimes, I'm too afraid to play on any levels after Episode 1, but I want to complete the game so badly!

I get this traumatizing fear surprise shock thing every time I hear, see, and get latched onto by these disgusting slimes. I need a way and some help to get rid of this phobia.

you're not the first person i've seen with this problem.

unless you plan on spending years in therapy trying to figure out what causes your phobia and how to overcome it, your best bet is to have someone remove them from all the maps (including the eggs they hatch from)

Best solution is to run with Duke kick binded to for example Q and then run through slimers swarm. Save ammo, they aren't worth your bullets. :P

Still, they are not as scary as the original facehuggers. In the old aliens vs predator game, I threw 8 rockets at that shit.

you're only hope is to learn how to use the map editor and remove them from all the maps yourself

since they're inactive sprites in the map editor you wouldn't have to put up with their sounds or movement; they look like simple ugly easter eggs when unhatched, and green wads of snot when sitting static

it's kinda illegal to freely distribute the maps outside of what was included in the demo versions, so having someone else do it for you then hosting it on a web site for download can be frowned upon.

Just wondering, do the other Build/pre-2001 first person shooters on gog have these slimer-type enemies?

You might be able to switch the game into 3rd person mode if you know the secret code. Try typing DNVIEW while playing to see if that helps with your problem.

Those slimes are nothing, the ghost like enemies in the build engine game Blood are even worse in my opinion.

If you thought the slimers give you the heebie-jeebies in Duke Nukem 3D. Then the choking hands in Blood turns your fear up-to-11! They are worse than the slimers!

...and harder, more damaging to take off. Heck, even Bone Leech in Blood 2 outclasses Headcrabs from HL1 in any possible way. Seriously, there are things in games that does much wrong to you than those brainless slimeys... wait. Radioactive blobs and encephalo suckers on ceilings in Duke Nukem 2, or eyeballs spitting sacks with mouth. Really, there's nothing to worry in DN3D. it could be always worse things before and after titles. O_o

Wait, is this an actual, diagnosed phobia you have (and not just how so many people use it as the equivalent to being "really scary")? If so then it sounds like a problem that'll extend further than this game and you should get that looked at. In the meantime, what others said about editing out the enemies is the only solution I can think of. Is it? Pretty sure that the majority of mods that are freely and legally posted around this site consist of edited map files among other things, and that the only thing that's illegal is distributing the executable files that enable play of the games themselves. Anyone able to provide edited map files should be able to provide them in this thread without any problems.

I'm not sure about diagnosed, but I'm really scared of slimy wet things ever since when I first played that Slug Cave level in Obi-wan's campaign from Star Wars Episode 3 GBA that featured this thing. Their sprites are even more creepier but I couldn't find them on the Internet. So yeah it extends further than the game.
