I'm going to try to write this, for anyone who has never played this game before today.
Have you ever enjoyed games like Metroid? Castlevania? Cave Story?
This game may just be for you. It's a 2d action side scroller with all the charm we've come to love from the Duke Nukem series.
You've got pipe bombs, a shotgun, and a sweet boot to plant up any pigs ass.
You've got a double jump, a sliding kick, and a back elbow that defuses bombs.
Throughout the game, you'll collect "nukes" which if you collect 10 on each level will up your stats. Stuff like your Ego, amount of pipe bombs you can carry, and reduced damage!
You also get to free buxom babes from getting blown up. Why these pig cops would want to blow them up is beyond me, I'd rather the blowing be happening in an entirely different manner..
Anyway, I don't buy a lot of games, I didn't even buy this one, I won it. But it is a game I do recommend picking up, I haven't seen a lot of fixed-camera 3rd person action/adventure side scrolling games for PC, and this one is one of the best.
Now, it's not all sunshine here either though, the GOGcom version is prone to error during the boss fights, so if you die you have to reload the whole game. The game does get a little repetitive as all your abilities are unlocked at the start of the game, so you're basically grinding and collecting. The only interesting boss fights are the first and the last, the ones in between are just souped up versions of regular enemies..
but despite it's short comings, it is fun to play, one of the things that really surprised me, was it's controller compatibiiity. I had my Xbox 360 controller connected to my PC to play some other games, and I just happened to notice that my controller would work in game, so I tried it out, and without changing any configuration settings, my controller worked just fine, and to be honest a game like this I feel works best with a controller.
Anyway, the game will not disappoint, for $5.99 and no DRM, this game is a steal!
