This patch optimizes things better, makes things more newbie friendly, adds 6 new race portraits, and fixes several other more minor issues.
0.809 change list:
* now smooth entity movement better - gets rid of a lot of hitches
* no longer broadcast sound events for non-players
* broadcast sound is now limited to once each frame
* made teleport detection on client a little better
* fixed primitives and subjects still getting in the way of diplomatic/military wins (Darkness)
* now reward/gift chests should spawn near the player (They Live/Darke/Eris Shrugged/tiagocc0)
* now reward chests are marked as required quest object (so will show up on map) (Darke)
* unstable wormhole anomaly now has a min level of 10 (Eris Shrugged)
* races can now have a minimum level before they will show up
* ancient races now have a min level of 10 (LotusBlade)
* race traits can now have a minimum level before they will show up (at least when they are a random trait)
* race traits that make it so they can't sign treaties now have a min level of 10
* increased BaseShieldsRegen from 0.5 to 1.0 (Kurama Kitsune)
* fixed weapon speed on weapons getting counted multiple times in DPS (Annex/Darkness)
* no longer save cfg file immediately after zooming in/out to prevent slowdown (Darkness)
* now black boxes stay around for 30 minutes instead of 5 (Darke)
* races with traits with CantSignTreaties can no longer be Xenophile or Radical Xenophile
* added 6 new young race portraits - 2 mineral, 2 amphibian, avian, and plant
* added a bunch of escape notice to immunity after resurrecting status effect
* increased trap chance on storage pods from 0.2 to 0.33
* delivery directly to rebels no longer takes all of the current type of item (Kurama Kitsune/Poilux)
* delivery directly to rebels now takes the lowest level item of the correct type that satisfies the quest
* dps on plasma cannons and ballistics are now valued less (Darkness)
* added a collision help topic (ScrObot)
* fixed plasma cannon damage type (should be thermal)
* now many quests show their status effect icon
* now show monster icon in quests that target monsters
* primitives no longer demand things
* removed a "No fake entities left" message, just slows things down when things are already probably slow
* now when run out of fake entities for effects, put particle back on free list instead of deleting
* sped up Emitter::draw a little if no particles to draw
* fixed a slowdown when adding waypoints on map (it was saving cfg each time for temporary change) (Darkness)
* races now save their definition by name instead of index (save games more stable when I add new races)
* changed the texture that Lifeform Type: Mineral uses
* can no longer click on list items that aren't displayed (Eris Shrugged)
* added a Damage Types topic to full help topics page (Sharp)
* now damage types are color coded: Thermal - red, EM - blue, Kinetic - brown, Radiation - purple, and Explosion - yellow
* fixed randomize button sometimes selecting character options that aren't offered
