There seems to be an expansion pack called The Forgotten Islands in the making.

Very little information yet, but it is entered as an IDG nominee. Good luck!

Actually, the article says they are trying to get FUNDING for an expansion. Hasn't been made as of yet.

I havent heard anything. Anne and Ville come in here every now and again but i dont know if they would openly state anything about it.

The official word on this is that we haven't started it yet, though we've thought a lot about it. Like Archaalen said, that was just a try to get some funding to make it, and depending on a variety of factors, we may actually get to make the expansion pack some day! At least I'm hoping we will. :)

But worry not, we haven't been idle here. We've been working on something else Driftmoon-related, a sort of a secret hobby-project. I'll tell you more when we know about release date.

Hmm..so it seems that a new warrior has joined together in our midst. I will complete Driftmoon soon and was wondering what the great Ville will do next. Now I know.

So your making an expansion pack for Driftmoon?

Presumably http://www.instantkingdom.com/2013/10/Unity/ was the secret project.

Edit: ooh, and http://darkzero.co.uk/game-articles/ville-and-anne-monkkonen-on-driftmoon-steam-and-developing-together/ says a crowdfunding campaign might be in the offing someday. :-)
