This is strange: the game starts okay, even when selecting a table, the camera moves over the 3D table. But when I want to start, it freezes! I switched all effects off but it still freezes. Then I lowered the resolution and down to 1024x768, it works! :-( Too bad, as the other pinball games at GoG.com work in high resolutions flawlessly. Any idea?

I've had a similar, but different problem. My video card just automatically reduces the table to medium res 1024x768, with most of the shiny turned off, even though my vid card and screen should be able to handle far more. Pretty disappointing. You don't expect a pinball game to be deep or complex, you DO expect it to be pretty and fluid.

Unfortunately I don't have any ideas for a workaround, but wanted you to know that someone else feels your pain.

This is one of the only purchases here I've been truly unhappy with.

ps. I'm on a Vista laptop, Athlon chip, ATI Radeon X1200 vid card, 2 gigs ram
I should clarify. you can get to higher resolutions by making sure that your desktop resolution is set to your game resolution.

however, occasionally it does freeze. your flipper won't move when you need it to, which is game breaking for pinball. Overall, and this is probably intended, the pinball itself bounces around like a rubber ball and appears to float. Definitely the worst pinball game on this website. Stay away.

ATI Radeon 5800, Windows 7 64-bit.

Yeah, it's the same resolution and color depth. That's not the problem. It also runs in lower resolutions but freezes after a short while. With higher resolutions it freezes as soon as I want to start a new game.

As it runs most times in 800x600 (but almost never in 1024x768 or even higher resolutions), I find the tables okay. Not that fancy but the sounds are cool! In a pinball game, not only the table is important but also the sounds - even more important than any "video modes" or other gimmicks. So I play it once in a while but it's too bad that it only runs in 800x600. And not in fullscreen.

Recommend a better one? I love me some pinball, but feel like this is the one time I've wasted my money here on GOG.

The absolute leader in pinball right now is Zen pinball, with the best tilt mechanics, available on console.

On this website, I enjoyed big race pinball. Please note that the physics models were not fully developed yet back in the day, so there are two glaring criticisms of classic pinball:
1) balls tend to 'float', as the effects of gravity at a 15° tilt are not modeled correctly. Everything is simplified, so the effects of ricocheting off of different materials... This just isn't correct.
2) graphics resolutions were nowhere near where we are right now, causing a fuzzy effect on modern hardware. Unless you have really small monitor, the graphics really need to be redone.

Some games are just not playable for pinball, and this is one of them. I agree, worst pinball game and waste of money on this website. It's a shame, because this website generally have some very good titles. I wish they would do some quality control and leave out stuff like this.
