It seems a bit strange, as the game itself is voice acted, but intro isn't.
I don't recall the intro to be voiced...

Off, yet on topic... The Intro seems to end very abruptly for me. Just after the new King is crowned and he gets into bed, you see a creepy silhouette and then it pops to the splash screen again. Can anyone confirm that that's all of the intro? Thanks

EDIT: I looked it up on YouTube, and, indeed, it is supposed to be that way.

It's true, the into doesn't feature voice acting. Which is strange as usually it was the other way around.

And, yes, the intro is supposed to be this way and it makes perfect sense later in the game.

True that. It's just damned weird why they chose not to voice act the intro, it's not like there's that many lines in it.
I had this game by the time it was released... The intro HAS voice and digital sound effects (the very gate opening at the beginning of the intro has a digital sample, but it doesn't play in the GOG version).

BUT I think there was a catch to make it work properly, I just don't remember how... I thought someone here in the forum would know... :-/

Well, I'll research somewhere else and see if I can find out anything... If I do, I'll let you guys know :-)

I also always thought it was weird that a game won't have speech in the intro, but would have it in the rest of the game. The only thing I could think about is that the original CD may have had an audio track for that, and those tend to "get lost" over the years (like my original jewel cased KQ6 that lacks the audio track).

I tweaked around with the audio settings, switching from GM to MT32 and SB, but no dice for intro voices.

Still, at least I found that MT32 with MUNT sounds the best of the lot musicwise.

or just lack of space
Lack of space? Isn't the CD version like 100MB?? That leaves 550MB of extra space...
