I understand that I could just copy/paste the save to a backup folder and then start the game over with a fresh file. But if I wanted to have multiple parallel saves stored online, how would I do that? Apparently on Steam there was a family sharing feature that would allow this, but I don't think GOG has an equivalent. So would my only option be to just make another GOG account and rebuy the game? If so, could I use the same install location with just a different save location?

There is a mod that seems to allow you to have multiples save game slot, and you can download it and read more information about here: http://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma/mods/40/?; but I never tested it, and don't own the game to do it. If you want to try this mod, check the question 5 of this FAQ, which say where your save file will be located: http://items.gog.com/dragons_dogma_faq/Dragons_Dogma_Dark_Arisen_GOG_FAQ.pdf

Edit: Otherwise, as a manual alternative, you can copy you current save game to another folder, like a backup, and create a new save game. But will need to repeat it everytime that you want change characters. Seems that the Steam version have a "family share" feature that allow different saves, however I don't know if GOG have plans to implement something like this.

Hi, thanks for the response. What I was wanting to be able to do is to have multiple simultaneous saves online. It seemed like it'd be cool to make a custom team of pawns. I'm running out of things to do in the game so that sounded like a fun project. Unfortunately, just moving the saves around manually or with a mod would still just be one save online at any given time. I guess what Steam does with family sharing is create a different online ID, but GOG doesn't have that feature. So then my questions were: Is my only option to make another GOG account and rebuy the game? And if so, can I used the same install location or would I have to have two instances of it on my hard-drive?

Make a test for us with the same install, maybe with the mod. It certainly will give a response that will improve the knowledge of the community. :D
Individual save slots are not included in the game because the Pawn System has problems dealing with it. So simply swapping out your save data could cause problems for your pawn and the Save Manager doesn't seem to work for the GOG version I'm afraid.

But aren't pawns stored inside the save file? I don't get how swapping back a nd forth the save would cause issues with them...

When playing online Pawns are stored online as well as in your save file. Swapping save file means you suddenly have a completely different Pawn, which causes synchronization issues with the server (which still remembers the old Pawn) if you're online.

Oh I see. The only way to prevent it is to play offline then. I'm going for offline play anyway, so I hope that the mod works for the GOG version aswell.

It seems rebuying is needed, which is kinda weird.
