Hi everyone, I'm Giada, I just bought DAO and I'm also new on GOG, and while i'm loving the game I saw many reviews reporting that it has problems on windows 10 and will start to crash on once you get far into the story... To those whose computer runs W10, is it true? Did it happen to everyone? Is there a way to fix it?

Thanks to everyone in advance!

It usually crashes when you reach Denerim, especially if you have a lot of mods.
The 4 gig patch is all you need. https://ntcore.com/?page_id=371
It works for any other 32 bit games or programs as well.
It's very simple, you just tell it which exe to patch.
In this case DAOrigins.exe in the games bin_ship folder.

Thank you! I just applied it so now I'm just gonna keep playing and see it I experience any problem... Do you have W10? Have you have had other problems or was that the only issue throughout the game? I really didn't want to get too invested in the story before I knew if I could actually run the whole thing and enjoy it!

Yes I have Windows 10.
On a 32 bit operating system you could get through the game without crashes, but it had a lot of memory leakage (and still has some) If you find the loading times increasing after you have been playing a while, just save and exit to the desktop and then restart and reload your save.
64 bit operating systems can use more memory, but they don't use it as efficiently, that's why you now need the 4 gig patch.
But other than the slow downs that remind me I've been playing too long, I don't have any trouble with the game.

Good advice, it happened to me some days ago but I honestly can't remember if it's because i had been playing too long. Thanks again and let's hope it works out for me as well if anything happens!
