Hallo! I am playing Dragon Age: Origins for the first time. Having a blast! I'm running with myself a Human Noble Warrior Aedan, Alistair, Morrigan, and Leliana. We are all around level 12/13. I did Lothering, the Broken Circle, and Redcliffe Castle, and all the premium content. Now I'm running around Denerim doing side-quests, almost ready to find Brother Genetivi and that Urn.
My guy Aedan is doing the talents for Warrior, Two-Handed, and then Berserker, and later Champion.
Alistair is doing the talents for Templar, Warrior (first row only), and Weapon and Shield. I will probably have him do Champion too.
Leliana is doing the talents for Bard, Rogue (third row only), and Archery. (No backstabbing or stealth or melee.) I will probably have her do Ranger too. (She seems to have left the Assassin life in the past, and I don't have her do stealth/backstabbing/melee, and animal summoning seems a nice compliment to her ranged talents.)
I'm anticipating finishing around Level 24'ish, so I'm anticipating a full 6 rows of talents (4 talents per row) for both Alistair and Leliana. So, they should have enough talent points for their planned builds. And they seem effective (playing on the Normal setting).
But I'm having many thoughts about Morrigan.
The game defaults her starting spells to Shapeshifter, with some Primal (cold and lightning), one Spirit, and some Entrophy.
And in addition to all this, I started working my way through Morrigan's fire row in Primal spells, because, you know, Fireball! I also added Cone of Cold in the cold row of her Primal spells, and we're getting great use outta that one!
I'm anticipating a full 7 rows of spells for Morrigan, as I will feed her the bonus spell tomes. But her spells are all over the place.
I like to complete each row that was started, to get the most outta that part of the game. (Then try other parts of the game in a subsequent playthrough with different characters.)
So I added Sleep to Morrigan's Entrophy row already started by her defaults, with a fine-sounding combo of Horror and eventually Waking Nightmare. But I don't seem to get good use outta Sleep, as they all keep waking up because they're on fire, getting plucked by arrows, etc. I'll keep trying to use this row of spells, and perhaps I'll get better at it. But it got me thinking that Primal and Entrophy might not be a good mix.
And I rarely use Morrigan's Shapeshifting spells, even though I now got the whole row. I guess that's my fallback tactic for when she runs out of Mana.
The thought occurred to me that my team might be stronger with Wynne replacing Alistair or Leliana. Two mages casting so many more of the available spells while my dude swings an oversized sword. But Alistair is a fellow Warden and feels relevant to the story (my first time through), and my new girlfriend Leliana handles the many locked chests and traps.
So how do you guys build and use Morrigan?
Or generally speaking, which spell rows do you generally prefer?
