If it is, how is it different? If it is not, what is it like?
It's in real time with a pause option. There are no turns like in Frozen Synapse.

You can pause the game anytime you want and do planning, or you can draw routes on the go. You can even plan the whole scenario first and then execute it at once.

There are go-codes like in older R6 games, flashbangs, different entry methods through doors. It's Frozen Synapse meets Rainbow Six. Except that FS isn't realtime and in R6 you can't pause :)
Thanks!

Thanks for this informative post!

I played Frozen Synapse a while ago but only for a short time, I didn't enjoy it. Too anal for my taste :/

Is Door Kickers anal as in tedious to play? Is it awkward to reroute the paths of your squaddies or does the gameplay flow like melted butter?

I'm too tired these days to play games that are too anal and prefer a more streamlined style of games so I'm wondering if I should get this or kick the game out the door...

Any suggestions?
Door kickers is one of the slickest games I've ever played. Lightning fast action that is pure joy to control and watch. The controls are as good as they come. Your men are also quite competent and can respond quickly to enemies, they are not pure automatons who only do what you tell them. Just watch some gameplay videos, it is even better than it looks.
