Hi Folks

I was just wondering if it was possible to set up a game pad to play Ultimate Doom and Doom II and how I would go about doing it? All I have at the moment is a Super Smart Joy which I use mainly for ZSNES.

Thanks!

You can probably use the "Launch Settings" shortcut and the DOSBox key-mapper (shift+F1) to setup the controller for DOOM.

That's sort of what I have done in the past to get my F310 working.
Get a source port with good controller support. I like ZDoom and GZDoom, personally. I believe (but haven't really checked) that Chocolate Doom, Eternity Engine, and 3DGE have good controller support as well.
Chocolate Doom's controller support isn't that good since it acts like the controller support in vanilla DOS although it has a few more buttons to remap. For good controller support that lets you full control the game (both in-game and with menu), I'd go with ZDoom, GZDoom, or Doom Retro.

Depends on your OS, but assuming Windows 10:
1. Start
2. The Ultimate DOOM [GOG.com]
3. Launch Settings

Assuming Windows 7 (I think this is the setup, but I don't have Windows 7 to verify):
1. Start
2. GOG.com
3. The Ultimate DOOM
4. Launch Settings

OR from GOG Galaxy:
1. Launch Galaxy
2. The Ultimate DOOM
3. More
4. Other
5. Launch Settings

After you "Launch Settings" you can "Select Controller Type" and set it to "Keyboard + Joystick". From there, you can "Configure Controller" to map the buttons on you controller.

If a button is not working, then you may need to use the DOSBox Mapper to remap that button to a different event.

EDIT: Once you have it all setup, you can enjoy a good sense of Satisfaction
