I have been playing around with Doombuilder 2 and having some fun with it. It got me thinking, would anybody else like to participate in a level-design contest using vanilla DOOM2? I was just thinking of it being an exercise for people interested in the modding community (which is gigantic, wow). Maybe if we have at least ten entries we agree are good we can combine them into a wad and call it the GOG campaign.

What do you think?
Souds like a fun idea.

I'd sure like to make a level or two. At the same time I have to admit my previous attempts at making doom levels never ended too well. Maybe I need to give it another shot.

"Contest" doesn't sound too tempting however.

I'd be more into just, you know, throwing a bunch of maps together just for the fun of doing a little something together?

It doesn't need to be big. It doesn't need to be cool. Just fun.
Nice idea but with one flaw. I'm not knocking this subforum as many do the same thing here on GOG, but most users just come in to ask questions about Brutal Doom/DOSBox/getting things to run and leave. Normal discussion about Doom and Doom modding/mapping is usually done in places that have been about it for decades (at last I'm pretty sure some date that far back). I'm not exactly optimistic when it comes to getting a good turnout for a community WAD. Or contest or whatever, I'd probably prefer a DUMP-style thing to at least start.

It'd be much better if you brought this up in General Discussion to let everyone know about it, or if you bring it up to staff they might do a sitewide one with Bethesda's stamp on it. Unfortunately doing it in this subforum alone won't go as there are too few regulars to keep it alive.
