In Doom 1 enhanced you can't bind strafe command to keyboard (it's greyed out) which means that it seems to be impossible to play the game with the old school controls (where the alt button was strafe modifier).

Is there a way to fix this somehow?

The Strafe command in DOOM Enhanced and DOOM II Enhanced was made for controllers sadly as these ports were originally on consoles, and unfortunately the developers don't plan on updating the ports themselves any further at this point. If you want a similar experience with the improvements of DOOM Enhanced has to offer, I'd recommend using the Woof! source port, it's a modern continuation of Marine's Best Friend (which in turn was derived from BOOM) that supports widescreen resolutions, uncapped frame-rates, various controllers (though no rumble support), and other quality-of-life improvements.

Thanks for the info!
Shame that this feature is absent from this version. Thanks for recommending an alternative though.
