You can play Dooom 3 BFG with the vanilla doom 3 flashlight or weapon if you use Classic RBDoom 3 sourceport.

Classic RBDomm 3 has had EAX support for doom 3 via OpanAL Soft EFX since Version 1.1.11.6
The addon at moddb is for doom 1 and 2
Edit: Is the EAX addon for doom 3 still needed or does classic rbdoom include this now? Or is it only needed for ROE expansion?

Edit 2: OK the addon at nexus is still needed for main game and expansion
