Normally I would just use Chocolate Doom, but I'm trying to play e1m8b (the new one John Romero just put out) and it turns out Chocolate Doom just can't handle it. Something about drawing more planes than vanilla DOOM source ports are built for.

My next choice is ZDoom, but I'd like to keep it as close to vanilla DOOM as possible while keeping horizontal mouselook and WASD. That means retaining the original internal resolution, colors, etc. Anybody got a guide on doing that?
I'd suggest looking at Crispy Doom if what you want is Chocolate Doom with raised limits.
Thanks. Romero's readme even says e1m8b was tested with Crispy Doom. I just didn't realize what that was.
I used settings from what this post uses in a autoexec.cfg file and have it load up with ZDoom to have (kinda) close to vanilla Doom behavior despite that GZDoom won't achieve such behavior.
