I own this game on steam and, aside of steamworks, it also tries to connect to klei servers on each launch (so - if no connection available, game just crash). Is it true for GoG version too, or this one is trully drm-free? Have plans to double my purchase there

I believe the game does connect to Klei for updated news about the game but you can still play it without being connected.
