Even though I've owned BD for a while it's in my backlog behind some other stuff and I haven't gotten to it yet.

Still, last night I wanted to test some claims about using BD with Wine/Wineskin on the Mac (http://www.gog.com/en/forum/divine_divinity_series/divine_divinity_on_mac_os_x_installation_instructions). So, I installed BD for the first time ever and got into the game.

The Death Knight voice acting in English is... really not good. In my mind, a Death Knight should be ominous and have a certain kind of terrifying dignity/nobility. He shouldn't sound like a spoiled jock in the middle of a 'roid rage.

I feel sorry for Larian, cause I know getting that kind of stuff right cross-culturally is difficult. Oh well, I'm sure the game is still fun.
You know, the funny thing is, that Death Knight voice was the second "better" version. The first, which you can hear with the BD demo, was robotic and monotone, with an echo effect as if an empty suit of armor.

The community made such a big deal about the "bad" voices that Larian went and recorded a different set of voice actors for the full game. The result was....kermit the hulk.
The DK's voice gets better as the game progresses, and he talks less. FWIW I got used to it relatively quickly.

With the demo it was more a small (but vocal) part of the Larian forum that complained about (primarily) the DK's voice. After the games' release another group (many of whom had been silent in the discussion before) complained that the voices were better in the demo.

The voice for the friendly NPC on the first level (who has a quest for you) was much better in the demo. You only talk to him a couple times, though, so it doesn't really matter in the game if he sounds like someone doing a bad impression of a famous person.

LOL! That's a perfect description.

I'm sure I will as well. Bad voice acting doesn't really affect me as much as some. Like I said, there was just a big disconnect at first when I heard the DK. :^)
