I found out to my horror after I ordered the GOG release of Divine Divinity that it was missing many fixes made for the CD-ROM version, due to the fact that a Larian ex-employee misplaced the source code for the fixes, :

"GoG and Steam are currently at the same version (1.0062A AFAIK). Changes made by official patch 1.33 (1.0033A) for CD release of the game are still not implemented in 1.0062A."

. I promptly ordered a supposed CD-Rom version online, only to find in the mail that it was instead mis-advertised and was the DVD version. Which version is on the DVD of Divine Divinity? The CD-Rom patched version 1.0034A or the Steam/GOG version missing many fixes, version 1.0062A. I don't want to open the DVD to check it because I want the option to return it if it is the wrong one. Thanks.

The retail anthology version would be 1.006. Any separate CD/DVD version of DD would be the original release disk version (1.0034).

While there are some lost bug fixes in the download version of the game, many of the issues were relatively rare in the first place, and tend to have fixes or workarounds if they are encountered. If you don't need widescreen or higher resolution support, then the disk version would have a little lower chance of running into problems (periodic saves are generally enough to allow easy recovery regardless of version). In the disk version one of the NPCs is a better merchant that in the download version, and you can bring him an item he wants to complete a quest and then buy it back (in the download version you can not buy it, so it is better to keep it and not complete the quest.. though there is a fix to get it back).
I have the standalone DVD release. I guess I had read earlier that the Anthology DVD's were the digital versions, so that's where the confusion came in. I checked the standalone DVD and it's the 1.34 version. Thanks!
