Why have a system in a game that has such overly obscure restrictions on it that it becomes practically useless?

I'm level 5 with a crafting level of 3, and I've unlocked a ton of recipe''s

The only way to craft in this game is to get 2 parts of something to craft. That's a problem because of the random loot system even in vendor's...the chances of getting the exact 2 items needed to create something is like winning the lottery. A t least put vendors in the game that have what you need.

Another problem is that even If you are lucky enough to get 2 parts of something . this whole drag and drop system only works for creating regular arrows that I have found it says you can take to smaller potions and create a bigger one which doesn't work because placing 1 potion onto a stack of potions that are of the same amount only cause them to be stacked...not be merged same with scrolls.

The final problem is upgrading, out of the 40 total hours I've played this, I've only found the 2 parts to create regular arrows, I haven't been able to upgrade any items which isn't explained anyway,

I was under the impression that a developer puts something in a game for people to use, not put all these really overly obscure restrictions on them and rendering them practically useless.

This needs a good patching.

Since you've played the game pretty thoroughly, are there a lot of bugs in the dialogue, for example? Do you think one should wait for a few more patches before purchasing?

I'm not sure the OP is the best person to ask about dialogue bugs; he thinks sourcery is spelled wrong despite the source magic, Source Hunters, etc in the game.

There are improvements to the co-op dialogue system coming in a future update, but if you are planing to play single player there aren't any major problems with dialogues.

Waiting for more patches would of course result in more polish (and there are another 2 recruitable NPCs that are going to be added in an update), but most people can play now without serious issues.

I'm approximately 15 hours into the game and I have only come across one issue that could be considered a bug. This involves the forgotten crypt location. I'll leave out the remaining details so as not to spoil the quest that resides there.

I will admit that the crafting system could stand some improvement. However, you don't have to rely on the random loot system alone. For example lets say you have a ton of special arrow tips but no arrow shafts. You can create arrows shafts by combining a knife and a branch.

On the subject of dialogue bugs, I don't think I have come across a single bug in the dialogue.

That sounds fantastic. Thank you for expanding more on these details. No less, I'll be purchasing the source hunter DLC together with the base game.

I've stumbled upon a thread elsewhere, that mentioned gender recognition bugs on a particular quest or two. That if you use a female character, you will be addressed as a "Sir", and for the male character, he will be given the "Madam" treatment. I'm not sure how this bug appears, like whether it has anything to do with you choosing to play as a male/female pair, female/female pair or male/male pair.

I have no idea and cannot answer that I because I don't really play games for a story, if I wanted an involving story then I would read a book or watch a movie. Now don't get me wrong, a game needs a story and background, but don't need to be so involved that it takes up 3/4 of a game while only leaving a 1/4 of the playing time, it should be the other way around where 3/4 playing and less than a 1/4 story, But that is just me and how I like things.

Make no mistake, I do follow a games story, but do so like I'm watching a commercial simply because 3/4 of the dialog in all games is filler with completely unnecessary crap that doesn't even give the game atmosphere as people have been led to believe. It only gives off that illusion because of how it's done. It's like Mass Effect games, there are no choices in that game at all, it's just multiple branches that all come out to the same point in the story so no matter what you pick you're still going to come out at the same exact spot every single time.

I have this really sick reading ability in which I am to be able to skim through anything I read, and by identifying key words, can wind up fully understanding the story. For example, in Dragon Age: Origins, I only read maybe a 16th of the dialog if that, and knew the entire story and everyone's background so I spent more time playing than I did in dialogs

Since a lot of dialog in games are nothing but filler containing unnecessary crap, I only pay attention to what little information that is needed.
