Discovery: This problem as far as I can tell has affected all 1.05A Versions, I am unsure about 1.04A but I assume every version PREVIOUS to 1.05A Does not have this problem. The ball is in Larian Studio's court now as they need to patch the 1.05A patch. Sadly I heard they lost the source code or something to this version so that may never happen.

Dungeons and stand-alone areas (Verdistis, Council of Seven) keep their music. The main map (with Aleroth, farmlands, Castle, etc.) only plays "Roads Shaded by Green Eaves." The Dark Forest map plays "A Perilous Path." That leaves at least 10-15 songs missing. I haven't played to the Wastelands map on the Vista machine. It seemed fine, but there only about two songs that play on that map anyway.
From bengeddes

As of now I still, like some people, experience problems with how the music changes and that in the over world I can only hear 2 tunes. Most underground dungeons work apparently when it comes to their music.

In the fully patched retail version the music changes properly, such as the ability to hear the Aleroth town theme and the like.

Sooo Here is the question, how many of you have this problem, and is there any way to fix it?

Some things I noticed: Music enables when you initiate dialouge, though its the wrong song.

Currently Missing songs: Practically all the town songs, the farmland song, etc.

I love the music in this game, and only to hear 2 tracks out of the whole soundtrack for a rather large part of the game just kills it for me.

I wish I could offer you a solution but . . . I can't. Seems this happens on some systems for an unknown reason. I cannot duplicate it myself. I see you also found one of the other threads for this problem.

The only thing I could suggest is to open dxdiag and disable hardware acceleration on the sound tab and give that a try. Depending on the sound card / OS, you may have to do this elsewhere or . . . the option may not be offered on some systems. This has helped on a few systems with no difference on others.

To open dxcdiag, press the Windows key and the R key, type dxdiag, give the program a moment to load and check the sound tab for the acceleration slider. I would turn it off, if that helps, move it up until the problem returns and move it back slightly.

You might go into your sound-card config and play around with the settings. Try changing it from Stereo to mono, raise / lower the quality setting etc. etc.

If you find a solution please post it here for others. DD's music is awesome and it's a shame to miss it . . . =)

Thanks for the reply.

I guess I will keep trying on it. As of now I am trying to find the patch notes to see if its possible one of the fixes might of messed up the dynamic audio transitions.

Since I am using a SB Audigy Soundcard I am always bound to run into all sorts of problems. Though some people affected by this don't even have hardware accelerated sound.
This might be a stupid question, but would it be possible to insert the CD (if you happen to have the CD version) with the GOG version, and get the music from that?

Thats not quite the problem.

All the music is in the game already, for some reason or another the most recent patch as in 1.05A messed up the dynamic music transitions in the game, or at least on the over world (Aleroth, Rivertown, etc)

So far with every computer I got I still run into this problem.

I am starting to think that people don't actually notice and complain about it because this is a problem with THIS version of Divine Divinity.

I saw a video of a longplay of THIS version and the person who was playing had the same problem.

This sucks. I just recently re-downloaded to make sure I had the latest version, and I'm about to start a playthrough. I guess my only advantage is that it's been so long since I played DD that I don't really remember the music anyways.

This is a rare occurrence but it does happen to some systems. Very good chance it will not happen to your install.
Okay, now I am going to see if the problem can be replicated on a Vista Machine.

Well, this is really just a duplicate of my post in the other thread but I have this bug on XP, Vista, and Windows 7 (and the CD version works on all three). Three entirely different computers have this problem. I'm almost convinced that this problem isn't all that "rare" at all - only people who know the old version would really notice anyway.

When I say rare, I am referring to the OP's post where he says - "in the over world I can only hear 2 tunes"

This is rare as the majority of installs play many different tunes in the over world. There is a problem with the sound, intentional or not, that is more evident on some machines. Nobody has given a solution yet.

I assume you have played through the entire game on your three installs and only heard two songs throughout the games?

Thank you for this post, this pretty much sums up the problem.
I wanted to buy it but now that I know it's an incomplete version...

hehe, yeah, I'm so embarrassed.

I enjoyed the game play, story and music so much that I played through DD twice not realizing there were songs missing. Wish I had known . . . =)
Well, obviously unlike me, You never played the physical copy... I rather stay with my old version without such "enhancements".
