I downloaded divine divinity but when i went to play it it was not working so I ended the task using the task manager. But when I tried to re-run it I received an error saying that i needed to reset the configuration. When I clicked yes it gave me an other error saying:

unable to write in instillation directory
please make sure that there is still free space on the drive where Divinity is installed (there is)and that you have the necessary access rights.

even when i run as administrator while this doesn't appear it doesn't work. Please help me,.

It sounds like you have the game installed inside the Windows' protected 'Program Files' folder structure. Uninstall the game and choose a custom install, then install it to somewhere like C:\Games\GOG.com\Divine Divinity\
It installed in c:\progrsm files (86)\gog.com\divine divinity and so i moved it just to my windows8_(c:) and while the last error I was getting is gone i am still getting the first one.
You CANNOT just move it. You have to uninstall, and then re-install, but NOT to your base C: drive. Use the path that I suggested: C:\Games\GOG.com\Divine Divinity\
If the game was working fine, you would be able to just move it (except then any future patch would check the registry and get the wrong path to install to, resulting in an error). Since there was a problem from the start, so possibly an issue with the install, it would be much better to uninstall / reinstall.

Once you do that, try running the configuration program first and setting the resolution, rather than starting the game right away (you can also switch between Direct3D rendering and Software).

Speaking of patches, when you get the game running there is an update for the GOG version (and the anthology / DVD version) that hasn't gotten an official patch yet: music fix.
Well i did what hickory said and it worked thank you. To raze thanks for the support anyway.

An installed program, game or not, should never be just moved. The game *may* not have a problem with it, but Windows certainly will be confused -- it's a Windows issue as well as the program's. The program may be relying on the registry, but Windows absolutely does.
