Hello fellow dragon knights,

So I've reached the stage of the game where those annoying councilors shove four princesses in my face demanding I marry one of them without even the option of a first date *sigh*

Since this game has just been released obviously there is no guide on the matter of political marriage so I would like to ask you folks as to whom you chose and what were the consequences of your choice other than the obvious three other races being upset.

Since I cannot continue my military conquests until after choosing a bride I'm gonna just stop playing for a day or two and see what the general discussions regarding this topic goes.

Personally I find the Elvish princess annoying, too ditzy. The Dwarf princess is a power hungry and gruff girl. The undead princess I have the most sympathy for as from her background story she's the woobie of the four. And the lizard princess is feisty and brutally honest, I kinda like it. The fact that she looks like a Navi from Avatar kinda bothers me though.

So, enough ranting from me, what are your thoughts on the matter? I'm very interested in hearing other people's opinion on the four princesses and the reasoning behind your choices.
I also want to hear the opinion of other players. I have not yet played through the game and just chose a princess. I chose the Lizard princess.

-Dwarf: Way too powerhungry and imho absolutely dislikable.
-Undead: Well....who wants to live with a Skeleton. And a bit too shy.
-Elve: I don't know....I really almost picked her. But her talking about love and stuff sounded a bit false. But maybe I'm just too mistrustful.
-Lizard: Down to the bone honest and very intelligent. I quite like that so I chose her. I also hoped, there would be some interesting choices to make later. And maybe she will warm up a little.
I have fully played through with the elf and the dwarf, the elf is fun to corrupt into a meat eating drunk, and the dwarf is to be very pushy about killing her father. Though I am not sure how each would turn out if I made different decisions.
Soo..here's some Information for you without going into Eventdetails
If you're really curios you can take a look at the docs..it's all there ;)

For every princess you will get a relationbonus for her race, some gold&research-points and maybe a special bonus like additional cards, a blessing of the 7,...

Ophelia, the Undead Princess
Story / Arc
The undead are in essence immortal creatures, trapped as they are in an eternal state of 'semi-being' that touches the boundaries of both life and death while crossing neither. Some of them though, eventually do traverse the line and die, either by being destroyed in combat or of disease. This last instance happens very rarely indeed, but unfortunately for Ophelia she is one such exception, afflicted as she is by a cancer that is eating away her bone marrow. She is withering away and nothing can be done about it, at least, that's what the other undead say, who believe that this disease is a punishment from Hades. Ophelia though, doesn't want to give up without a fight and she is determined to find a cure or any sort alternative that may keep her alive, even if it goes against her own faction. Deep down she is ashamed of her illness, for she still believes it might be true it is a divine punishment and it hurts her to know her people would outright reject her if she wasn't a princess.

There are many different outcomes depending on your choices as you guide her through her arc, but either Ophelia will become alive (a human woman) or become a "super-undead".
Character Diamond Aspects
Religious zealot (this aspect disappears quite quickly but may come back when she's a golden skeleton).
Curious and a little fearful about life ('What does X fee like?'; 'How does X work?').
She has a philosophical streak if she gives up religion.
Journey of discovery when she experiences new senses.
Quirks and Eccentricities
When she is still undead, she has different kinds of fruits she uses as artificial breasts. What fruit she uses when, depends on her mood.

Pyra, the Imp Princess
Story / Arc
Pyra has a wild, carefree character: in her own way she epitomises all imps. Being married to a Dragon Knight would probably bore her pretty quickly, but she hasn't been on the ship long when news reaches her that her son Rufus accidentally blew up his nanny and will be joining her on the Raven soon.

Her son will prove to be quite a handful and it will be up to the lucky Dragon Knight to deal with his shenanigans and keep his mother happy at the same time.
Character Diamond Aspects
Crazy, impulsive, bi-polar.
Adores her son and never thinks he can do anything wrong.
Jealous and suspicious of other females.
Quirks and Eccentricities
She sometimes takes weird yoga poses.
She has a live bomb with her, the fuse burning. She'll kill the flame at the last moment, then light a new fuse and so on and so forth.

Aida, the Dwarf Princess
Story / Arc
Aida, the dwarf princess, is a fundamentally nice, but very troubled woman who has always lived in the shadow of a father that never loved her: Thelor, king of all dwarves. This is the first time that she is truly away from under his tyrannical wings, and her betrothal to a Dragon Knight felt like an actual liberation to her. Deep down however, even in his absence, there is still the festering hate she feels for Thelor. You will find out that the reason for the king's (irrational) dislike of his daughter is twofold: he has always held it against her that his beloved wife died giving birth to Aida and that on top of that the child turned out to be a daughter, not the long awaited son. The king, growing ever more despotic, became a bitter man, the last of his line, and he never let an opportunity slide to let Aida know just how much of a disappointment she really was.

It is revenge that Aida wants and you make this a reality, or you can try to steer her to a reconciliation with her father.
Character Diamond Aspects
Quid pro quo mentality.
Educated: she reads non-fiction, which is a fun way for the player to learn all kinds of weird facts about the countries he has conquered.
Likes a 'man's man'; she is turned on by your military might.
Quirks and Eccentricities
She brings a vault into the bedroom.

Lohannah, the Elf Princess
Story / Arc
The Elf Princess has always led a luxurious but sheltered life. She was taught the ways of her people, which makes her very caring about nature and all living things. Her sheltered upbringing though, has barred her from reaching true 'maturity' of spirit and by marrying a Dragon Knight she is suddenly put in the real, more complicated world.

If you keep her on the spiritual path she will stay true to the ways of elves, but mature little. If you guide her through a more pragmatic path however, she'll become a woman of the world, even if other elves don't quite like this.
Character Diamond Aspects
Intelligent, yet naive.
Poet and painter (about nature and animals).
Cares deeply about nature.
Quirks and Eccentricities
Talks to animals like they are people and they seem to respond to her somehow.
Wears jewellery made from simple natural materials.

Camilla, the Lizard Princess
Story / Arc
Camilla was raised in the royal household of lizards in a very strict, indeed authoritarian way. Her parents did not shy away from severe punishments for the slightest infractions and this rigorous upbringing has given shape to her character in a fundamental way. All she has known all her life is law and that is what her life is still about. She is a judge with a reputation for handing out uncompromising, harsh sentences.

It will be up to you to stand by her and support her stern ways or to try and melt her cold heart a bit by pointing out the emotional causes and implications of each case.
Character Diamond Aspects
Gets bored easily.
Opinionated.
Stern of convictions.
Very cold to those she doesn't know well.
Quirks and Eccentricities
She wears reading glasses when she's reading.
She has a collection of judicial wigs. She wears different ones depending on what her final verdict will be.

I played through with Camilla so far...if you marry here she will call it a strategic partnership at first
and all here Events are related to several topics...Letter of the Law against the Spirit of the Law, Emotion against rational consideration, Law against public contentment,...
Is Pyra actually available in the game? I've only seen four princesses because Pyra's ship has "an incident" on the way.
She killed herself with her "find the bomb"-game in my campaign too but at the docs she is 100% worked as available princess.

It might be random or tied to some descions...
lol...this game is so fun :D

...i would chose one princess and continue with till the end. and then when start to play the second time would chose another one(since i like more then one anyway) ...that's what make the game so fun to play again and again...its the choices...so don't try to learn all about other princess...or it wont be as much fun then :)

Good luck Commanders!!!

The imperial edition readme file says that at some point during development they had her available but later on decided to remove her.
A shame - I think she could have been very interesting. Then again, I found it hard enough to choose between four princesses. Five would have been even harder :)

It did make for a funny story though :D This game is fun (on casual at least, where I'm not getting my butt kicked :P). Will play it later on a tougher difficulty, but I just wanted to see the storyline now. And to kick some ass in Dragon Form :D
I sort of like Aida, at least compared to the alternatives. The others were outright weird (undead), had strange and lofty expectations (elf), were exploded to bits in an accident (Imp), or were less-than-willing parties to the whole thing in the first place (lizard). Aida is greedy and selfish, but she's not under any delusions about the arrangement - she just wants to get away from her horrible father and maybe shag a half-dragon. Also, Scarlet really likes her, so she can't be that bad. :)

EDIT: I also tended to almost always disagree with the dwarves in general, and this wedding popped me straight into the mid-40's! The undead are, well, dead to me, though...

I'd say it's more likely to lead to trouble if Scarlet really likes her...

They all have their good points and bad points though. The first time around I went with the lizard princess because, given a political marriage, she also boasted the best professional credentials.

That's probably the most clear-cut choice for playing it straight.

Scarlet is maybe a bit too fun-loving to be completely dependable if it were real life, but for a Larian Studios game, she passes. :-D
Since playing through the story campaign only takes a few hours, it is easy to try all the different princesses. Because all their bonuses tend to balance out over the course of the game, it is pretty much a case of pick the one who appeals to you the most whatever the reason and enjoy the story.
