When I was installing the game, an error message popped up stating that the Visual C++ (or something like that) became corrupted. I clicked repair, and it seemed to work, until it kept trying to reinstall. I did eventually get the game installed, and real quick, I did launch the game, and all seemed well. I searched GOG support, and nothing there on this error. Is there anything else I need to do? Or should be ok?

It should be ok.
If you do get any other C++ errors, though, you can manually reinstall the MS VC 2013 redistributables from the '..\Divinity - Original Sin Enhanced Edition\__redist' folder (there are subfolders for the 32 and 64 bit versions). Since the game finished installing, though, the repair and install restarts presumably fixed whatever the original problem was.

My PC crashed upon startup after I rebooted it, though I am not sure why it crashed. When the startup repair came up, it went through its motions, rebooted, and the game disappeared. But, at least everything on the PC seems to be working.

I appreciate the reply. I will try again on Monday, as I have to work this weekend, but at least this time I have a resolution if needed.

Thanks for taking a vested interest in helping out. Very impressive that developers do so. Thank you!! Enjoy the weekend!

Windows may have assumed there was a problem with the game because it was recently installed, or maybe there was a file system error, or something with the install folder in the first place, which caused the original problem.
Hopefully the startup repair fixed it either way, and the install will work properly on Monday. Maybe shut down all non-essential programs (such as anti-virus) and right click the installer to run as administrator (that wouldn't avoid system problems, but can help with some issues).
ah the ugly c++ error (2008) (2011) or (2012)
still keeps showing its ugly head?

this is going on for a while now, and it seems it cant be fixed, i always cancel it.... most of the times the games start normally, sometime they did not in my case so i uninstalled the game and reinstalled it again ( i use an unistall tool to remove all 'leftovers' cause more often then not some leftovers exist in the registry that arent cleaned after unistallation of a game / program)

Funny thing is that before mickeysoft began to enforce the secret installation of win10 inside security updates, too make sure that as much as users would be converted to win10, these problems were non existent.
After a while the problems started, thats when i turned of the autoupdates to prevent more bad things coming.
Anyway, the problems still exist i most games that need this c++ (lots of them seem to need them).

i hope you are right , cause i have lots of other games , that keep giving the same problem, and all their suggested solutions did not work in my case, in a few cases some games dont nag about the c++ but these games are very rare to find cause the majority of the games i have (from different devs) keep nagging with the c++ messages.
Funny thing is that these c++ problems never or very rarely happened on my old win Xp (32 bits) and only on my win7 64bits after a while, right in the period mickeysoft was trying to force install win10 (upgrades).
Chances are very small i will ever use win 10 (most of it because of the ET phone home stuff and other privacy violation stuff).
