Hey everyone!! I am new to the Divinity Series, and have started playing Divine Divinity. That said, I have some questions that I figured I would post here, hoping that someone will be able to answer them.

First, how much character customization is there with this game? Is there a skill tree for each class? Is one class better than another for players that are new to the series?

Second, are maps the same with every playthrough? What about loot (found/dropped)? Is all of that placed or random?

Also, What is the storyline like? Is it pretty immersive?

Do you h ave any advice for a newbie to this game? Any suggestions or tips that would help me ease into it? Is there anything else a player might need (or want) to know before diving right in?

I hope that someone can help me with all of this. Any and all help is appreciated!! Thanks so much!!

Hi,

Good choice for playing Divine Divinity.
Gameplay wise it's a mix between Diablo and Baldur's Gate.

There is a lot of customization, any class can learn any skill but common consensus is that warrior is the best beginner class.

The map is fixed or handcrafted if you prefer, it's pretty large.
To be honest I don't know if loot is randomized, it seems to me a bit of both.

The story is pretty standard fantasy lore, not bad but not groundbreaking either.
Then again I've yet to finish the game, so I don't know the full story.

As for beginner tips.
I recommend to use my dgvoodoo guide,
It solves some sound issues and smoothens out the graphics.

Thanks so much for your help!! A few more questions..

First, what do you mean the maps are fixed or handcrafted? Is there a setting that toggles either one?

Second, with any given character class, are there different attacks or does each character have a single attack used throughout the game? For example, the warrior have one melee attack, or a few that are acquired as the character increases in character level?

I assume, from your response, that loot is kinda like Icewind Dale, where in any given situation there is loot that is placed, and loot that is basically random. I guess Divine Divinity is made the same way.

Anyway, thats about it for now. Any and all help is appreciated!! Thanks so much!!
No, they're both the same, just a fixed handcrafted map.

The warrior has a small buff in using melee weapons, while the wizard has a small buff in using magic.

Yes I think so, though I haven't played Icewind Dale.

You're welcome.
