Yes, but currently only via Direct IP or LAN.

yup was just looking into it i can't wait i have nothing against steam but choice is always better. buy the way is valve helping with this cross platform or is this just gog idk if anyone knows.

Yes, using Direct Connection (IP address or Server ID) or LAN. Eventually that should include GOG Galaxy.

thanks do i need to make a server for direct ip or are there ones i can use just wondering i can always create one port forwarding is not a problem for me.

No, the Server ID is just a code that the person hosting a game can get to give someone wanting to join. It should be more reliable than using an IP address, with less need for port forwarding. AFAIK the game is just connecting to essentially an upgraded NAT punch through server to generate Server IDs or find games using one.
