This was my fault, no doubt, but I thought I'd check in the forum. I assembled the dragon armor, fulfilled the quest, but when I checked my inventory I didn't have the belt anymore. I checked EVERY vender (twice) including the smith in the dwarven halls to no avail. I guess I unwittingly dropped it somewhere, unless someone might have heard of a bug or something like a fix for it, I'm desperate.
EDIT - I should also mention that I have dragon armor leggings...I didn't know they exsisted from the forums I've read. And I did recheck the basement where I originally got them and they were gone.

Leggings are not part of the dragon armour set.

So the belt disappeared after completing the quest?

If it was before the quest, you could use the procedure in the Lost Items topic to complete the quest, but the stats would be corrupted, so it likely wouldn't be usable as a belt.

If you remember the stats, or have an old save you can reload and check, you could use an item editor to re-create the dragon belt.

FWIW, this is what I got my first game:

Belt Of The Dragon

Durability 13
Charm Quality 1
Armour 100
2 Agility
6 Constitution
40 Vitality
40 Magic
15 Resistance to Spirit
2 Sight
3 Hearing
Pickpocket +1
Alchemy +1

Man! That would have been great to be able to at least make a dragon belt. I feel robbed. My system couldn't run the programs you suggested because one of them couldn't locate an item file for DD, the other was missing a dll file :( But thanks much Raze.
And as an aside my leggings say dragon leggings I don't know if that's just a leggings that happens to be named dragon or what.

EIT - I just rechecked and they are called dragon leggings of the trickster..my bad.

DAD's item editor requires Visual Basic runtime files, which may not get installed in Vista/Win 7. I didn't have any trouble installing and running it in 64 bit Win 7 (IIRC I ran the installer in compatibility mode as administrator, but don't know if that was required, and installed it outside the Program Files path), but several people have.
The other editor doesn't have as many features (can't add spell bonuses or change the name, for example), but should be more compatible (you should just have to browse to the save folder to open the items.000 file).

After a toturous search on my low-end PC I finally ofund the items.000 file and made the proper changes. However, I could not give it the pickpocket and alchemy bonuses, also I was unable to give it a charm slot. I wish I could have renamed it as well, but this is fantastic, so glad I asked. You are the DD guru Raze, love to shake your hand my friend. Thanks again.

Just read that thread, and I think there's a better way of transferring items between saves. I found that if you load a save while there's an item stuck on the cursor, it will un-stick into the new save when it finishes loading. So I suppose you could create a new save with the inv files you've provided, load that save, click and hold the item, press Esc, then load the "main" save for the item to be transferred over.

Did this with a GOG copy v1.0062A.

There is a duplication trick using that, but I never thought about using it to transfer equipment between different saves (+1 for you). To duplicating an item, if you quicksave, drag an item out of the inventory and hover somewhere there is not a red X, quickload and then release the mouse button, when the save loads there will be a copy of the item on the ground and in the inventory.

If you can get a piece of equipment in a new game or loading an older save, you may be able to use this to transfer it to the current save (where the original item went missing).

It should be noted, though, that character level influences equipment stats - the higher the level, the better chance you have of getting stats in the upper range for that item.
In a game to try for the lowest level finish, Ariana (in the Larian forum) reloaded a large number of times trying to get a holy weapon with Frost around level 5, but failed. Returning at around level 10, she found it much easier to get a better sword. She hit the gong on level 12 (ending up in the wastelands at 17), then quit.
