And will we all have to start the game over, or will it work with saved games?

The patch is being tested by GoG right now according to the Larian rep that is on the forums here. When GoG is sure it is working right for the GoG version of the game it will be released (the info on this is in the Patch thread located a few posts below this one).
Reading over on the Larian forums (where some Impulse users who have the patch already have given feedback) the patch should work with saves and fixes most of the issues people are complaining about.

For starters, if you want people to answer your questions you should acknowledge them when they answer you. Not doing so shows that you're only interested in trolling, nothing else.
Second, spamming multiple boards with this fabled patch shit, when you were alreday given an answer, multiple times in fact, reinforces my statement above, you're just trolling.
You already know that Larian delivered the patch to gog and that gog is currently on the process of testing the patch. So, relax, play something else while you wait.
Most likely the patch will be announced when a new installer is uploaded and available for download. The announcment will probably be made here, on this board, or on the general discussion board, or both.
Saves compatibilty adressed here.
