I'm occasionally looking for D:OS at Gog, hoping the price will fall somewhat because I want to buy 2 copies for local multiplayer (LAN) sessions with my GF. 2x 39,95 Euros is a bit rough; but I'm not accepting that Steam-stuff from the boxed version (even if cheaper).

Now the EE came out... and by sheer accident I noticed that the hardware requirements seem to have exploded!??
If I remember right, the NON-EE version was playable on a 32Bit-OS and DX9/DX10! There's no way to go for me with the new specs...

Did I oversee that all the time?
If yes - sorry for bothering.
If no - is the NON-EE version still available (or will be in the future)??

TIA!

Yes the EE version has new requierements and will only run on 64bit with directx 11. It is unfortunate but this is the standard for modern games now.

I hope the normal edition will be obtainable for people with 32bit systems.

AFAIK the only way at the moment to get the normal edtion, is the steam version from the developers website or the boxed steam version.

Too bad not to have the choice with drm-free version.

I hope GOG will provide the original edition, again.

The original version would make for a nice bonus on the Enhanced Edition.
@Wolfskraehe:
Well, I don't play modern "modern" games... too much action (first person, real time combat etc.), too less storytelling. Game companies tend to care more about how good their games look instead of how they feel! :-(
We loved playing through Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition, Baldur's Gate 1&2 and are close to finish BG2's Throne of Bhaal. This is the kind of stuff we like, and D:OS seemed to be that like. Unfortunatley, there's not much stuff around that can be played coop via LAN. (Icewind Dale is a Hack'n Slay Diablo-Clone and does NOT count as a "game like that" - we tried and were totally disappointed!)
Well, may be we continue the "Broken Sword" series - no real coop, but #1 and #2 were still fun to play together ;-)

@WingedKagouti & ggzx12:
Yes, I totally agree!!!
I know there's much additional stuff in the EE. But for people like me that don't have a gaming PC but only a better office machine it would be great!
IMHO, a bonus or "alternative" download seems the best solution.
Hopefully more people request that! ;-)

I totally agree with you, the games you named are also my favorites. But still technology is marching on and it doesn't matter if a game is a watered down modern AAA production or a real gem like Divinity Original Sin, they use modern hardware and so sooner or later there comes the time a gamer has to upgrade, at least if you want to play recent releases.

But you are right, it would be great do have the original version as an extra, like gog did it at some other games like Broken Sword or Quest for Glory. I'am kinda optimistic they will do this here.

By the way belushi1965, if you like deep story driven rpg may be give Age of Decadence a shot, it hasn't a coop but it should be something you could like. I also played many non coop rpgs with my girlfriend together(even Neverwinternights on the same pc^^), we just alternated while playing, not the best solution but still fun, like it was in the 90 when you wanted to play together:)

Thanks to that it runs smoother on my notebook. But I understand how annoying it has to be for those without DX11 or 64bit OS.
