Hello, I have recently come across a problem where I cannot connect to a friend's game.

I use the D:OS GOG version, he uses Steam.

We have been playing this game in multiplayer on and off for over a year together and haven't encountered problems until now.

We both have the same version (the game hasn't been updated in ages anyway).

None of us changed the operating system, hardware, ISP or our location, or anything else. One day it simply stopped working.

We've tried other games and they work, so it's not a connection problem, it's related specifically to this game.

Does anyone know any solution to this?

Did you both check firewall settings, disable anti-virus, etc, in case an automated update changed something?

Are you shutting down all non-essential programs before starting the game, especially anti-virus and any network utilities or monitoring programs?

Did you try starting a new multiplayer game (perhaps after creating a new profile) and test joining there?

Did you try switching who was hosting? If that helps in a new game, you can try transferring your latest save to the other person.
Each save is a folder in the '..\Documents\Larian Studios\Divinity Original Sin Enhanced Edition\PlayerProfiles\<ProfileName>\Savegames_patch' folder.

Have either of you tried playing co-op with anyone else?

Try verifying local files:
With the GOG version, in the (optional) Galaxy client, select Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition in the left column, then click on the More button, and in the Manage menu select 'Verify / Repair'.
For the Steam version, in the library right click on Divinity Original Sin Enhanced Edition and select Properties, switch to the Local Files tab and then click on the 'Verify Integrity of Game Cache...' button.

Thanks for the reply.

None of the above worked, but we managed connecting by using the ID instead of the IP. Thanks anyway and Happy Easter! :)
