Hi Gog'ers, was hoping one of you could clue me in to how multiplayer connects on the GOG version of this game. I know sometimes steam uses its own stuff, and if and when i purchase it here would like to know if you can play with people who own it on steam "as most do".

Yes, the GOG and Steam versions can connect using Direct Connection (with an IP address, or Server ID [which the host can get after starting a game, or loading a save]) or LAN.
Players with the same version can also use the online lobby or friend invite functions of GOG Galaxy or Steam Steamworks, respectively.
