Before I begin, let me note that the following is based on what I have on my machine--and that said machine is running Linux. Thus what you have may be different. If it is different, then I'd suggest looking up the equivalent processes to the below...
That said:
If it is an Integrated-Intel/Dedicated-NVidia issue, then you could try running the the NVidia settings program and setting it to prefer the dedicated GPU. (Which on my machine is called "Performance Mode", as opposed to "On-Demand", and is found within the "PRIME Profiles" section.)
Now, this is a global setting, so if doing so confirms that it does solve the problem, and if you want the system to in general switch between GPUs, then you could always look into creating an application profile (in the same settings program, within the "Application Profiles" section).
