Is there any way to stop this? I can't play it like this. Was going to give this game another go and less than two minutes in all I get is screeching every minute or so.

I read one "fix" was to go into task manager and set affinity to single core... only the game quits every time I go into Task manager. no good. I read another "fix" was to go into the realtek sound manager and the mixer and lower the PC Beep (whatever the hell that is).... only I'm not using realtek drivers.

Anybody?

The easiest way to do that would be to run the game in Win 9x compatibility mode (right click on the ..\Divine Divinity\div.exe file, select Properties and switch to the Compatibility tab). There are also programs that can be used to launch another program using a specific core.
