Hello all,

I'm a little frustrated. I'm around level 10, by the town south of Aleroth (with the plague). I've just encountered the bandit leader after following the false emerald trail. Now, whenever I fight with the bandits and their leader, I'll randomly explode, resulting in an instant death, no matter what I do.

Is this normal? It's getting a little demoralizing, since I know I can defeat him were it not for these bombs.

it's NOT random. some of the thugs can set fire traps while walking away. finding some fire resistent armor should help, or just increase your HP.

anyway, i think you're too low-levelled to be fighting them. try finishing off ALL the remaining enemies found in the catacombs under starter/healers' village before venturing out into the rest of rivertown/etc.

Thank you. I knew something must have been happening. I was just unsure since some bombs will explode from a short distance away, as well.
I only had a fire resistance of 10 when I went through there, but was at level 12 (263 Vitality). The passive Stun skill may help do more damage before they can run away and have a chance to use traps.

Keep an eye out for Spell Shield spell books to buy, which absorbs elemental and poison damage. I maxed that and Aura of Guarding (the same thing for physical damage) for my warrior with purchased spell books, and they were helpful for the mid game (didn't try them until they were maxed, and late game they weren't needed).
