Hi. It runs fine, but crashes every once in a while. It can happen when opening the map, or going into a house, or when walking around. I'm using the software renderer.

WinXP SP3
Pentium 4 2.8 Ghz
2GB RAM
NVIDIA 6200

leiget: crashes every once in a while.
Are you shutting down all non-essential programs (especially anti-virus) before starting the game?

Have you tried a lower game resolution, to see if that would make a difference?

Have you checked for updated drivers, etc?

There was a rare problem with the disk version, at least, with crashes going through doors, usually fixed by lowering the hardware sound acceleration (click Start, Run, type in dxdiag and hit Enter, then switch to the Sound tab).

Thanks for the reply.

No unnessecary programs are running, lower res the same problem, drivers are okay, esp. since it's software rendering. Tried software audio, still crashes.

leiget: software rendering.
Does Direct3D rendering cause problems? If not, or you can find a different fix, you could check if it is more stable.

Windows 8 slow graphics problem fixed using WineD3D

The disk version configuration program could be used to try Direct Draw. Rename or otherwise backup the current configtool.exe and NlsEng.dll files in the Divine Divinity install folder, before extracting the zip file there.

Windows 8 slow graphics problem fixed using WineD3D (fixed link) (gog renamed the divinity sub-forum but didn't placed a redirect... therefore breaking links... :(, some one should tell them they should not do that... couldn't find a community wishlist here either... )

Oops. Thanks; I've fixed that now in my collection of links, along with a couple others I had missed changing when the forum was renamed.
I'm very sorry for taking so long to reply.

In the end I'm just using Wine, which works very good on software rendering, although it is about 10% slower, more or less. Oh well. I just got my new computer up and running. Not a real solution for those looking at this thread, but anyone who wants to can try the solutions above.

If I'm allowed to shameless promote an alternative solution, source code release :)

PS: Raze, some progress here with the Larian developers for this request? ;)

None that I know of.
